Sponsor an Animal!

The New Canaan Nature Center houses nearly two dozen different species of animals, from ferrets and snakes to birds of prey.  These animals cannot be released into the wild for a variety of reasons and are used in teaching programs, such as:

• The community is invited to attend free weekly Live Animals Demonstrations at 3 p.m. on Saturdays
• School groups learn about animal behavior from naturalist-led programs such as Meet the Animals and Birds of Prey
• Our Beginner's Nature Program pre-school and Nurturing Nature groups for toddlers and parents enjoy frequent visits from many of our animals
• Several of our Summer Camp Programs are designed to help children get to know the animal species better
• Older students participate in our Junior Animal Keepers training and go on the become Animal Care Volunteers

Sponsoring an animal helps cover the cost of medications, food and personal care, as well as proper housing and upkeep of the animal enclosures. Because each animal's needs are different, the cost of sponsorship varies.

In return for your sponsorship contribution, YOU receive:

• A photograph of the animal
• Sponsor an animal Newsletter
• A biography of the animal and information about the species
• If your child has a Birthday Party at the Nature Center, the animal you sponsor will attend if possible!
• Other sponsorship levels are available
