Wildlife Watch

Eastern Cottontail Rabbits

Meet one of Connecticutís most hardy animals! As cute and fluffy as they may be, Eastern Cottontail Rabbits are indeed a resilient bunch of wild animals that stay active all winter. To do so, they have developed some pretty amazing adaptations. In the late summer or early fall, rabbits will "blow their coat," or molt, in order to make room for their incredibly warm and thick winter pelt.

Do you ever wonder why you donít see too many wild rabbits during the day? Click here to find out.

Be sure to check out our new "Wildlife Watch" kiosk next to the Sugar Shack for more information.
