Family Nature Adventures: Breakfast with the Animals

Have you ever wondered what the animals are eating for breakfast? With over 40 ambassador animals at the New Canaan Nature Center it's a daily task to provide healthy food for our creatures. Calling all 3rd-8th graders! Are you interested in science and the natural world? What about hands-on wildlife experience? Or maybe you are just itching to get outside? Then join us for our NEW afterschool programs this winter! Our Young Naturalist Science Club (grades 5th & 6th) will meet Mondays, our Wildlife Exploration Club (grades 7th & 8th) will meet Wednesdays, and our Adventures in Nature Club (grades 3rd & 4th) will meet Thursdays. You won't want to miss the fun!

NYBG: Perennial Plant Combinations

Join us here at NCNC for a perennial plant combinations class, led by Sheri Forster, longtime NYBG instructor and principal of The Scottish Gardener. Whether in a shady corner or a sunny border, selecting the right plant combinations makes the difference between a ho-hum garden and one that gets rave reviews. Concentrating on perennials, learn to use color, texture, height, and bloom when combining plants to create a harmonious look for your garden come spring.

Come enjoy the Nature Center! Take a hike on our two miles of trails that criss-cross the site (including a 350-foot marsh boardwalk).

Go on a scavenger hunt. The New Canaan Nature Center is located on a 40-acre site which features unusual habitat diversity offering a variety of horticultural experiences for the visitors as well as a live Birds of Prey Exhibit, a variety of gardens, a Greenhouse and a Visitors Center which houses our Discovery Room, Art Exhibits and the Nature Gift Shop. Come explore!
